Gwadar receives rainfall as cyclone Phet maintain intensity

Despite hitting the coast of the Gulf state of Oman, tropical cyclone Phet maintain its intensity as coastal areas of Gwadar received downpour with gutsy winds ahead of cyclone on Friday, which said to be re-curved to the coastal belt of Sindh and Balochistan.

Director General Metrological department Dr.Qamaruzzaman Chaudhry told Geo News that cyclone will re-curved to Pakistan.


According to Met office Islamabad, cyclone is heading towards north with 13 km/h and is at a distance of 850 kilometer from Karachi. The wave heights could be reached to 5 meters, it added.

Geo News correspondent in Gwadar said Gwadar,Jevani, Pasni and other areas started receiving downpour from 7:00 am today which is still going on. The office of deputy commissioner in Gwadar has been converted into emergency cell whereas Pakistan Navy, Coast Guards and other agencies are fully prepared to cope up with the situation. Pakistan Navy has put two helicopters in standby position and fishermen have warned not to venture into the sea.
